Call it Purvanchali cuisine or Bhojpuri cuisine, the food habits of this region is though elaborate but very simple. This style of food preparation is typical among people of Bihar and Eastern Uttar Pradesh, mostly in the Bhojpuri region. Wheat, rice, gram, maize, and pulses along with curd, milk, vegetables, ghee and vegetable oils, constitute the items of daily food, rice being the staple food of the people. Bhojpuri people celebrate various festivals and food is the most special part of it. People here enjoy both vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes.
